Shawn Patrick DeHaven
November 2, 1982 - June 23, 2000
Shawn graduated from Frederick High School in Frederick, Maryland on June 5, 2000. It had been a struggle for him to get to that day, but he did it and we were so proud of him. He was happy, and a little scared, now that he was a high school graduate. Shawn was not quite sure what he wanted to do with his life. Did he want to go straight to work and earn money to buy his new car( a Jetta), a new stereo & CD's (he loved music), a new computer (he was a natural at figuring them out) or move out on his own (his two younger brothers got on his nerves & so did his parents, at times) or did he want to struggle some more through college? He was sure of one thing, though. He wanted to go to the beach like all of his fellow graduates and celebrate. On Monday, June 19, 2000 he went to the beach - only, he never made it home. On Friday, June 23, 2000 he and his friend were heading home, Shawn was sleeping in the backseat of the car. His friend fell asleep at the wheel and hit a tree. Shawn was killed instantly, his friend received non-life threatening injuries. We will never know what this life had in store for Shawn. We MUST believe that he is in a better place and that he is waiting for us to be reunited with him one day. Otherwise, the pain would be too much to bear.
